Staining an Old School Writing Desk

I attempted to refinish this desk. It’s an old school writing desk, the kind that opens up.

I got it from a friend’s sister. My father took a look at it and based on the nails, it could be from the first half of the 20th century. Maybe the 1940s. I decided not to fill in the holes and left most of the dings since they weren’t dire. So much for the wood filler I got.

I sanded it down and stained it.

Not too bad. It now holds all my freelance business items.
