Let’s talk lingerie

I’ve joked before that my neighbourhood is lingerie central. If you want to pay three figures for a bra, you come to my neighbourhood. Within five minutes walk there are four lingerie stores – La Senza, Secrets From Your Sister, Beestung and Tres Jolie.

Tips for getting outside

Barre Beautiful, Yonge and Eglinton, Ballet studio, ballet class

Barre Beautiful at Yonge and Eglinton. I go with a friend at least once a week.

March teases us. One day is warm and dry and the next day is cold with flurries. We’re eager to get out of our coats and into sandals but sometimes it takes a bit of effort to get outside.

And who could blame us? We’ve had too much of this cold weather and choosing comfort over action is the easier choice but how can we change this!

Ballet comes to Yonge and Eglinton

I don’t walk south of Eglinton very often, maybe once or twice a month to visit my friend, Dag, who owns Consign Toronto. There isn’t much to see in that small stretch. Most of the good stuff is south of Dag’s store.

When I went to visit him last week, I saw two things: a development proposal sign up on the Art Shoppe – with two condo towers (29, and 38 stories) with a retail component and Barre Beautiful.

Don’t need money for a good time

An outdoor concert in Kincardine as part of their Summer Music Festival

Many years ago I was an editor at Toronto.com. It was a listings site where people could list their events for free.

There were some costs associated with some events but a number of those events were free to everyone. I was amazed by how many free or pay-what-you-can events were available if I was just willing to look for them and then go.

When you move to a new neighbourhood, you might feel that you can’t afford to go out. After all, you just bought a new home or may have done some renovations. You can still have a great social life and discover someone or something new by just doing a little digging.

Recent works

There is a man who is spending 2013 living off of sponsorships. His name is Zach Bussey. I know Zach very casually, following him on Twitter. When I read about his project which is called A Sponsored Life, I immediately set up an interview because I wanted to be first with the story. (Not competitive at all!) I wrote it for Forbes.

This is Zach in his bedroom. Yes, it’s that stark. The sleeping bag is from his grandparents. The egg cartons padding is for his back.

The BlackBerry Z10

Zed-10 that is.

BlackBerry Z10

The BlackBerry Z10 and the BlackBerry Curve

I attended the Toronto launch of the BlackBerry z10 (and the Q10 which comes out later this year.) You’ve probably read all the reviews of the Z10 so here are my thoughts.

Running. Outdoors. Argh.

I never put up nice selfies. Just the ones where I am nothing but a big ball of fleece and spandex.

This is what I wore this morning to jog/walk in -10 degree centigard weather today. Running tights with a running skirt over them. Two shirts – one short- and one long-sleeved. A fleece. A hat, scarf and gloves. And my phone.
