Designer Mark Fast partners with Danier for collection
When this press release landed in my inbox I have to admit I was surprised. Not by Danier – after all, they’ve been doing some excellent work with local and up-and-coming designers.
I was surprised by Mark Fast. Fast is known for his knits. He weaves and knots them to create body-conscious clothing. He was also the one who put Crystal Renn (plus-size model, blah, whatever) on the runway in one of his designs.
According to the release, Danier is going to manufacture leather for Fast’s upcoming A/W 2011 show which will hit the London catwalk in February. Obviously Fast is going to incorporate the leather into his looks.
It’s a good thing – I was starting to wonder where Fast could take his designs. You want to see a designer evolve his look, not stagnate. Plus there is only so much knit a person can do.
Here’s the release:
Canadian designer Mark Fast has partnered with leading Canadian fashion brand and retailer DANIER to create his Autumn/Winter 11/12 collection. Set to be unveiled in February at London Fashion Week, the London-based talent will incorporate leather elements manufactured by the Canadian brand.
