Yorkdale expansion

Yorkdale mall is on track to not only be the biggest mall in the country but to have the most luxury retailers under one roof. It’s expanding its square footage all to welcome the recent influx of US, UK and European retailers who are here to take advantage of our stable economy (fiscal cliff notwithstanding.)

I was lucky to see the new expansion earlier this week thanks to a Yorkdale style ambassador. There were slight allusions to street shopping or rather, the stores in Venus Fort in Odaiba, Tokyo.

The new stores include:

Ted Baker London (new to Canada)

Kate Spade (new to Canada)

Ann Taylor (new to Canada)

Loft (new to Canada)

Diesel

Microsoft (New international store)

Lacoste (flagship)

Wilfred

Boss Hugo Boss

Lululemon

L’Occitane

Tesla Motors (Canada is getting 150 vehicles which is pretty good considering Volkswagen sends approximately 500 and Tesla can be considered not only a green car but a luxury vehicle.)

and Club Monaco which is going through a revamp to emphasize a more European feel which is odd since the store originated in Canada.

The guys get a treat – the L’Occitane store will have a barber in on weekends if you’re in the mall and want to be indulged.

L’Occitane barber station. We just missed a customer. The gentlemen in the hat is the barber.
