Beatrix Potter and the Gap
I’m that friend. You know the type – the one who gives books to children. When Natasha, my high school best friend, had her first child I gave her a copy of the Beatrix Potter stories (and I’m not the only person to do so). They’re classic, beautifully illustrated and who doesn’t appreciate a sneaky rabbit?
I would have given the niecelet the same but someone got there before me. Nephew, by being the younger sibling, gets them to chew on when he’s ready.
So when the Gap sent their release about their collaboration with Fredrick Warne & Co which owns all that is Potter, I awwed over the adorable clothing. As they say in the release,
“The collection, ranging in size from newborn to 24 months, is rooted in an assortment of soft knit graphic bodysuits, brightly coloured denim, whimsical one-pieces and patterned dresses. The Rabbit Whiskers Sweater ($39.95) and Quilted Barn Jacket ($49.95) are available for girls and boys. For baby girls, highlights include colored and printed denim ($29.95-$34.95); cable knit cardigans ($39.95); and billowing dresses in chambray eyelet and pink bunny print designs ($39.95-$44.95). For boys, key styles include Peter’s Jacket ($39.95), a navy chunky knit cardigan; oxford shirts ($24.95); coloured denim ($29.95); and one-pieces in chambray and plaid ($34.95-$39.95). For newborns, bodysuits adorned with various Peter Rabbit illustrations are sold separately or as sets ($19.95-$59.00). Clothing and accessory prices range from $9.95 to $59.00.”
But here’s the best part: the Gap will be hosting readings of The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Emma Thompson’s (yes, that Emma Thompson) 2012 follow-up in select BabyGaps across the city and are participating in a charity that will encourage book donations for children. Now that’s lovely.
I know you want to see the clothes so here are a few:
