Sherlock art from Starbucks’ Katie Hinchliffe and the Marilyn Monroe cafe
Katie Hinchliffe does art for the Minto Starbucks in my neighbourhood. This time around, it’s from BBC Sherlock.
Let’s assume she can’t wait for season three either. What’s interesting is the coming of a new themed cafe. The signage appeared in the last three days. It’s the Marilyn Monroe cafe and it’s opening up just south of the Art Shoppe. It’s not the first store – that one is in Oakville.
The point of the cafe? As they say on their website:
“Marilyn’s timeless beauty and charismatic persona are the inspiration behind Marilyn Monroe™ Café. To reflect her effortless glamour and appeal, the café provides premium food and beverage offerings showcased in a casual chic setting that Marilyn would be sure to call her favorite café.
Combining a classic old Hollywood glamour with a contemporary design flair, the fashionable café features intimate banquet seating, plush fabrics and exquisite design details, creating a space where you could imagine Marilyn sipping her favorite latte and indulging in a luscious danish.”
Marilyn is still a big draw decades after her death so there will be people who will come. Midtown, between Eglinton and Davisville is becoming more and more interesting every day. Also recently opened, The Monk’s Table, the sibling to the one in Summerhill.
The Marilyn Monroe cafe opens in the fall.
