397 Ways to Save Money
In 2012, I’m going to try to save a little more money. I did pretty well in 2011, saving a nice little emergency fund. Next year though, I’ve got other goals:
To pay off as much of my mortgage as possible
Install a wood floor. I currently have carpet but would like a wood floor because of preference and eventually when I sell. That won’t be for a few years.
Part of that will be saving as usual but another part will be looking for ways to cut back. That means:
No more impulse spending because I have enough clothing and shoes.
Cook more instead of eating out or ordering in. Between Mom, Granny , cooking class in high school, recipe books and friends who like to share recipes this is completely feasible.
There are a few things I won’t give up:
Haircuts from my favourite stylist. I have curly hair and he knows how to cut it.
Gym. I need the discipline imposed by classes.
One of the books I’ll be using for guidance is “397 Ways To Save Money” by Kerry K. Taylor or @squawkfox if you’re on Twitter.
How do I plan on documenting this? By bills and keeping an eye on my account. I’ll also keep track of my actions here.
Right! Bring on January 1st, 2012. Let’s do this.
